While attempting to download some epub books, I encountered a book that didn't seem to download correctly. Pragmatic Programmers (PP) is one of my favorite sources for technical material; they provide a server from which my iPod Touch's Stanza book reader application can download my purchased books. PP also has a free monthly magazine; the latest issue didn't seem to have a valid epub format, so I asked myself, "How can I create my own epub documents and get them on my iPod Touch?" I found a good answer from lexcycle.com through which I stumbled upon Calibre. It seems to work well; I grabbed the PDF format from PP and used Calibre to convert it.
Calibre's installation instructions were simple and straight-forward. One really nice feature of Calibre is the content-server. As long as the application is up, I can navigate to the list of books I configure in Calibre via Stanza's 'Shared Books' link - quite convenient.
